Novena in honour of martyr Fr. Vladislavs Litaunieks
Reading from the Book of Revelation 7, 9-10; 13-14
“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes, who are they, and where did they come from?” “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation, they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”
Let us pray.
Almighty and merciful God, You give us priests according to Your Heart, You make them capable of love and ready to make sacrifices like Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, did. Filled with such love, Fr. Vladislavs Litaunieks, a participant in the suffering of Christ, spent his whole life witnessing the power of the love of Christ amid hate and lies, he remained a loyal priest of God, he withstood torture, died the death of a martyr and became a victim of the Communist regime.
We entrust our homeland and the Church of Latvia to his prayers. Let the testimony of the life of Fr. Vladislavs Litaunieks and his martyrdom bring rich fruit, give Latvia a spiritual rebirth and holy priests, and passionate faith for the Christian faithful. To you, who lives and reigns now and for ever. Amen.
Father Vladislavs, pray for us!
Our Father...
Hail Mary...
Glory be to the Father...
Priest and martyr Vladislavs, pray for me! Your life, suffering and death resemble those of Christ so much — ask for grace from God for me when I pray for... (mention the intent of your prayer), if it is God’s will. Amen.
Participation in the Holy Mass on the tenth day is recommended.
